Six certified microorganism strains plus Saccharomyces boulardii

Pro-Bio Defense™ is Kirkman’s “combination probiotic” that provides the six certified strains in Kirkman’s popular Pro-Bio Gold™, including the certified strain Lactobacillus plantarum, a resident strain in the gastrointestinal (GI)  tract, which is extremely resistant to the stresses of the intestinal environment.  Saccharomyces boulardii (S. boulardii), a special strain of yeast with probiotic capabilities is also included.

S. boulardii is considered a non-pathogenic, non-colonizing baker's yeast species, which is very closely related to brewer's yeast also known as S. cervesiae.  Although it is a “yeast,” it is not related to the Candida species (Candida albicans, tropicalas, etc.), which can cause pathogenic infections in the gastrointestinal and genitourinary tracts.

Pro-Bio Defense™ contains the most important "resident" and "transient" microorganisms that contribute to maintaining and promoting a healthy GI tract, with the added capabilities of the Saccharomyces boulardii strain, which is known to be effective when used alone or in combination with other probiotics to support digestion.
